// 要点

Silver Pines scores 85 on Metacritic for PC and 84 on OpenCritic, with 95% of OpenCritic critics recommending it. The PS5 page shows a smaller set of reviews, all positive.

Silver Pines sits at 85 on Metacritic for PC and 84 on OpenCritic, where 59 critics have reviewed it and 95 percent recommend it. Those two aggregates are close enough that the "is it good" question is settled; what is more useful is understanding why individual outlets range from 81 to a perfect 100.

Scores move as more reviews arrive. Everything on this page was checked on October 25, 2026, and the counts below are the counts on that date rather than final lifetime totals.

The score at a glance

SourceScoreBasis
Metacritic, PC85Nine critic reviews at the time of the check
Metacritic, PS5PositiveA smaller set, all positive, no mixed reviews
OpenCritic8459 critics, 95% recommend, "Mighty" tier
Steam user reviews97% of 1,824Overwhelmingly Positive

The Steam figure is user sentiment rather than critic aggregation, which is why it sits so much higher. Survival-horror players are the audience that the game was built for, and they are reviewing it on its own terms.

The PC review scores

The high end is genuinely high. Screen Hype gave it 100, DualShockers 95, Ragequit.gr 93, and a cluster of outlets including GamesRadar+, Meristation, TheSixthAxis, SteamDeckHQ and Gaming Boulevard settled at 90.

The lower end is not hostile. Hobby Consolas gave 84 and The Games Machine 81, both of which are still positive scores. Nobody in the PC set called the game bad; the disagreement is about how much the combat drags down an otherwise strong package.

That range — 81 to 100 — is unusually wide for a game this small, and it tracks with what each outlet weights. Art-direction-led reviews land at the top, mechanics-led reviews land at the bottom.

The PS5 picture

The PS5 page carries a smaller set and they are all positive. CGMagazine gave it 100 and called it a masterpiece; Digital Chumps, Game8, GameSpew, PSX Brasil, GameBlast, Reloader, GameOver.gr and BaziCenter all gave 90.

Console reviewers were more likely to mention performance, but the PS5 version did not generate the frame-rate complaints that the PC build did in the first week. That gap is worth knowing if you are choosing where to play.

What the critics actually say

Two phrases recur across the reviews. The first is some version of "a love letter to David Lynch": DualShockers explicitly traced the game's lineage through Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Lost Highway and Silent Hill. The second is "90s survival-horror revival", which Meristation used as its framing.

The art direction is praised in almost every review, specifically the rotoscoped animation and the hand-drawn town. Voice acting gets repeated mentions, and the diegetic soundtrack — music coming from radios inside the world — is treated as a design choice rather than a soundtrack.

The criticism is equally consistent. Combat is called clunky, bosses are called repetitive, and the back third is called slow. Reviewers also flagged the flashlight battery and the resource squeeze, though several treated those as intentional pressure rather than a flaw.

The individual PC scores

The aggregate hides how wide the spread is. These are the outlet scores recorded at the time of the check.

Nine reviews at the time of writing, and not one of them is negative. The disagreement is about degree, not quality.

Why the PS5 and PC scores differ

Metacritic keeps platforms separate, and the PS5 page carries a smaller set of reviews than PC. That set was unanimously positive when we checked, with CGMagazine at 100 and a cluster of outlets at 90.

A smaller sample moves more easily. One mixed review would pull the PS5 average down sharply, which is why we describe the PS5 result as "positive" rather than quoting a second aggregate number.

The practical takeaway is that platform-specific scores on a small game are noisy. Use the PC score for the overall picture and the outlet list for the detail.

Where the numbers disagree

OpenCritic is the one number that drifts. OpenCritic's own page reported an average of 84 with 59 critics and a 95 percent recommend rate, but at least one price-tracking site displays 87 for the same game.

We are using 84 because that is what OpenCritic's own page shows. The 87 figure appears only on third-party trackers, which are not authoritative for an aggregate they do not run.

Metacritic has a similar issue in a different direction: the number of PC reviews has grown since launch, so a site that quoted eleven reviews may be describing a later snapshot than one that quoted nine. The score itself has stayed at 85 across those snapshots.

Does the score match the player reception?

No, and the gap is informative. Critics average 85, Steam players sit at 97 percent positive, and the PSN rating is 4.89 out of 5.

That pattern usually means a game delivered exactly what its niche wanted while being slightly too slow or too awkward for a general critic. Both can be true at once.

If you are in the niche, weight the player score. If you are unsure whether you are in the niche, read the criticism list first.

What happens after launch

Scores settle as outlets publish late reviews. The PC average has stayed at 85 across the checks we made, which suggests the early and late reviews broadly agree.

Patches can change that. A performance fix can lift the tail of the distribution; a bad patch can lower it. Watch the date on any number you read, including ours.

How to read a Metacritic score for this game

For a small studio's first release, an 85 with a wide spread is a better signal than a uniform 85. It means the game does something distinctive enough to divide people, which is usually what "worth playing" looks like for a niche title.

If you want the practical version, read the review page for what the scores mean in play, and the how long to beat page for whether the length justifies the price.
