Twenty of the 23 Steam achievements are hidden, which is why the list looks shorter than it is until you start unlocking things. The PS5 version adds a platinum on top, for 24 trophies in total: one platinum, six gold, eleven silver and six bronze.
The good news is that most of the list is story progress. The bad news is that the four collection achievements are long, and three interactions are missable in the opening hours, before you have any reason to know they matter.
How many achievements are there?
23 on Steam, 24 on PS5. Twenty of the Steam achievements are hidden by default, and the platinum is called The Kind of Moment That Lasts Forever.
Five independent trackers agree on the list, and the PS5 count matches the Steam count plus the platinum. If a guide quotes a different total, it is usually counting the demo's achievements or double-counting the three ending achievements.
The three achievements you can miss early
These are all in the opening area and none of them are signposted. Miss them and you need a new save or a replay.
- A Call for Help — put a coin into a payphone and dial 911. You need one coin, and coins are also used to save, so do not spend your last one on a save first.
- Call me... — dial 58883, the Crimson Bear room 3 number, from the poolside booth. This is the same call that gives you the shotgun code, so it happens naturally if you follow the shotgun chain.
- Moment of calm, Brief respite — pet the cat at the ferry office. The cat moves, so you have to interact a second time in its new spot.
Rarity data backs this up. The cat and phone achievements sit around 69 to 71 percent of players, while the collection achievements sit near 13 to 15 percent. The early interactions are easy; they are just easy to walk past.
The four collection achievements
This is where the platinum is actually decided.
| Achievement | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Traces to Nowhere | Collect all 11 district maps |
| Walking Storage Box | Buy every inventory upgrade |
| This is my 7th Cup Today | Drink 7 coffees |
| Burden of Memories | Find all 25 mementos |
The maps are the easy one: 11 sheets, each pinned inside its district, two of them behind tools. The inventory upgrades cost money, so they compete with ammunition and healing for most of the run.
Coffee is the one people finish last without noticing. Seven machines are spread across the town, each gives a stamina upgrade, and the achievement only fires on the seventh. The map page lists the districts, which is the easiest way to check which one you have not visited.
Memento slots and the vessel shards
Mementos are passive bonuses, but you start with almost no slots. 16 Vessel Shards combine into 4 Vessels, and each Vessel unlocks one slot, for 5 slots in total.
Two achievements sit on that line: Parts Left Behind for unlocking a second slot, and Memento Mori for unlocking all of them. Both are progress markers rather than skill checks, and both are far more common than the full-collection achievement.
The shards are scattered through optional rooms, so a story-only run will finish with two or three slots at most. If you are going for the platinum, pick up shards as you pass rather than planning a dedicated sweep later.
Missable mementos on boss corpses
Three mementos are attached to boss bodies and cannot be recovered once you leave the room: Corroded Iron Ball, Snake Earring and Sea Polished Glass Shard.
The rule is simple and worth repeating: do not leave a boss arena without checking the corpse. Burden of Memories sits at roughly 15 percent of players, and missing one of these three is the usual reason a collection run dies at 24 of 25.
There is also a counting quirk. The game files list 26 memento entries, but Old Corsage and Bloody Corsage share a single dig spot in the Church Hill cemetery, so only one can be taken per save. The achievement counts 25, and 25 is the number you need.
Ending achievements and the button trap
There are three ending achievements: Ending: Leave, Ending: Rest and Ending: Live. The final prompt asks whether to kill Eddie Velvet, and the button labelled Leave is the one that spares him.
That means the achievement called Ending: Leave unlocks when you choose to kill him. This is documented on the endings page in full, but for trophy purposes the short version is: save at the phone, take the kill choice first, then reload for the other two.
Difficulty and modifiers
Four difficulty settings exist, and you can change them at any time: Relaxed, Tense, Survival Horror and Nightmare. Survival Horror is the design baseline; Nightmare raises incoming damage, cuts ammunition by roughly a third and increases enemy frequency.
No achievement requires a specific difficulty. Five of the twelve unlockable modifiers do require Survival Horror or above, but modifiers are rewards rather than trophies, so a relaxed run still completes the list.
If you want the modifiers as well, plan two runs: one relaxed run for the collection achievements, one Survival Horror run for the modifier conditions.
How hard is the platinum?
Not hard, just long. The platinum sits around 10.5 percent of PSN players, and the rarest individual trophy is Ending: Live at roughly 14 percent — the same collection gate as Burden of Memories.
The story trophies sit near 70 percent, so nothing in the combat or boss design is filtering players out. The list is a completion test, and the three corpse mementos are the only parts that punish carelessness rather than time.
For the collection side, start with the mementos page and the stars page. Between them they cover the two systems that gate both the platinum and the best ending.
